WXTJ 100.1 FM is UVA's freeform, student-run and student-staffed radio station based in Charlottesville, VA. Initially compri ... sing of 50 student volunteers, WXTJ now operates with almost 200, broadcasting from 8am – 2am daily. Our mission is to bring diverse and interesting music to the University. Programming is mostly comprised of free-form music from all genres, special programming, and audio content produced by students covering a wide range of topics. This includes playing music on air, creating a sub-community of students who are passionate about music, and hosting or promoting live music events on-grounds and in the greater Charlottesville area. WXTJ was founded in the early fall of 2013 and launched online that October. The station’s application to broadcast to 100.1 FM was accepted by the FCC in early 2015. It now shares studios and operational resources with sister station WTJU Charlottesville 91.1 FM. WXTJ is owned and operated by the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia.
