Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics(WAA) is a student led organization at the University of Michigan. WAA is dedicated to f ... ostering a sense of community among women in fields related to aviation and space, and improving diversity within the College of Engineering, focused on Aerospace Engineering. The group is dedicated to helping members develop personal and professional connections in the aerospace industry. WAA is active on campus and in Ann Arbor. WAA regularly hosts meetings and events including study sessions, aerospace-related laboratory tours, alumni talks, resume critiques, and social events. As a part of our effort to create a sense of community for women and individuals interested in aerospace-related fields, we have a mentorship program that places students of different years in “family groups” that meet up a minimum of once a month and have the option of attending an end of semester dinner. WAA also holds a corporate event at the beginning of every semester, so that students are able to network with local and companies attending the Fall and Winter career fairs. Some representatives that have attended this event in the past few years include NASA JPL, General Atomics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Rolls Royce, and The Boeing Company. Every year, we seek to expand this list and look for new partnerships. This year, we will also be hosting our third annual conference at the University of Michigan from October 23rd to 24th. *Registration: https://lnkd.in/eiU6-X6* The Women in Aerospace Conference is part of WAA’s effort to help women and minorities interested in aerospace expand their networks in a professional and academic setting. The goal of this conference is also to discuss emerging research and technology associated with aerospace, and solutions to social and cultural issues in related fields. read more
