WineRacks.com began more than 16 years ago as The Wine Rack Company, a part-time venture by company president Michael Babcock ... . After helping his brother-in-law, who had just built a wine store, Michael began building custom wooden wine racks in addition to his day job in industrial construction. When big accounts from places like the Seagram Company began to pay off, he decided in 1995 that creating wine racks was better than construction. We started on the web that same year and have been selling our wooden racks all over the world. We still operate The Wine Rack Company as our wholesale division for an ever expanding network of dealers and installers. Most of the wooden racks that you see on our website are manufactured in our plant in the Hudson Valley of New York from environmentally responsible raw materials. All of our raw wood materials come from managed forests or plantations and we've recently added Lyptus™, a quickly renewable, plantation grown hardwood that is gaining in popularity among the home builder and construction industry. Our website has grown to encompass not only wine racking, but fine stemware and other wine related accessories and gift items. WineRacks.com, Inc services not just the home wine enthusiast, but retail wine and liquor establisments as well as restaurants worldwide. In 2001, WineRacks.com founded the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest, now one of New York State's largest wine and food events that takes place annually in September. read more
