Waikiki Beach Services was founded in 1955 with a mission to deliver a first-class, quality water experience to all visitors ... in Waikiki through interaction with the legendary Waikiki Beachboys. Waikiki Beach Services is a registered business in good standing in the State of Hawaii. The company also carries commercial liability insurance beyond state required limits. Waikiki Beach Services complies with all State and Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) rules and regulations, including, but not limited to, the rigorous testing of all our instructors and canoe captains. These tests can only be passed after years of apprenticing at an operating beach service in Waikiki proper. Those individuals that complete and pass this testing acquire what is known as an instructor’s “Blue Card”. This card ensures that the instructor or captain is certified by the State and is legal to work on the beach in Waikiki. Waikiki Beach Services employs over 60 customer service personnel, of which, a majority are certified Blue Card license holders and are proficient in all levels of surf handling as provided by the State of Hawai’i. Certification includes: surfing instruction, stand up paddling, outrigger canoe surfing, and catamaran sailing.
