VTI Waregem is a major Secondary Technical College with more or less 1360 pupils and 200 teachers. There are 4 study areas: - ... Mechanics, - Electricity-Electronics, - Wood & Construction - Textiles. Students can choose for a pure Vocational Training (BSO), which prepares for an occupation and is focused on immediate employment, or a more theoretical and technical training (TSO), as a preparation for bachelor or postgraduate studies. The school has a long tradition in quality management. It started already in 1980 with quality management and is one of the few schools in Belgium that is ISO certified since 1996. The ISO certificate is audited by Bureau Veritas Certification Belgium. The schools is a partner in several European Projects: - in 2005-2007 it was a partner in the Leonardo da Vinci project ‘Quality Procedure Manual for Competence Based Vocational Education’ (QPM); - in 2007-2009 in the Comenius project ‘The Ideal European Classroom’ and in the Leonardo da Vinci project ‘Internship to Industry’ (i2i). - Since 2009 VTI coordinates the partnership project ‘Partners for Internship’ (PPI). Since 2007 VTI organizes Mobility (internship) projects: in 2008 and 2009 6 pupils were on internship in Sweden, in 2009 and 2010 17 went on internship in Germany, Austria and Italy.
