Vivat Bacchus is a celebration of rustic, robust food, artisan cheeses and great wines. South African in origin with previous ... ventures Eagles for Steaks in Welkom and Klerksdorp, Roxy Rhythm Bar and Browns Restaurant in Johannesburg, Gerrie and his partners started looking for premises in London in 1998. VB eventually opened its doors in 2003 in Farringdon and 2008 in London Bridge. The decor, slightly industrial with open ceilings, exposed pipes and ducts creates the feeling of being in a working winery and an unpretentious, no nonsense atmosphere. Fans whirring in cheese rooms and wine cellars stocked to the brim leaves one with no doubt where the focus of the business aims. WINE CLUB The Vivat Bacchus Wine Club, founded in 2005 has been going for nearly a decade! With events held every Monday evening at both our Farringdon and London Bridge branches, the Wine Club is a great way to learn about wine in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Our events are suitable for both beginners as well as seasoned tasters, the only thing we ask is that you must like wine! Book a private tasting in advance in one of our semi-private or private dining rooms. Each Wine Club event carries a specific theme, whether it is a specific country, a cheese and wine matching session, or a tasting of obscure varieties. Visit our events page to see more details of upcoming events. We also regularly hold Wine Dinners throughout the year, as part of our continued effort to showcase the outstanding wineries we sell wine from. Each dinner gives one producer the opportunity to showcase five of their wines over a five-course Vivat Bacchus dinner. These ever popular dinners, held both at Farringdon and London Bridge, gives you the chance to hear from the winemakers themselves, while tasting their wines with a menu specifically made to complement the wines. read more
