Cisco Employee Resource Organizations (EROs) are global volunteer groups focused on making a positive difference in local com ... munities while aligning to Cisco's business objectives. Tapping into their passion for giving back and leveraging their varied skill sets, Cisco employees are encouraged to harness the power of networks to help impact the lives of individuals who can benefit from the goodwill of our employees. One of our most active EROs is the Veteran's Enablement and Troop Support (VETS) group, which sponsors several events throughout the year in support of our communities' military veterans. The Cisco VETS ERO helps veterans transition successfully into civilian life by providing mentoring support and career guidance to those who have been committed to serving our country. Employers like Cisco recognize the many valuable skills veterans bring to the workforce (i.e. teamwork and leadership skills, the ability to learn quickly and work under pressure, a strong work ethic and dedication to the mission). However, there's often no easy way to translate their experience into civilian employment requirements. To help meet this challenge, Cisco's VETS organization sponsors an annual Veteran's Career Transition Day (VCTD) which enables transitioning service members, veterans, spouses, and caregivers to learn more about resources available and help with the transition into civilian careers. read more
