The Vanguard Community Art Gallery opened its doors on August 4, 2012 at the Moreno Valley Mall. The Vanguard is operating as ... part of the non-profit, tax-exempt, Moreno Valley Cultural Arts Foundation (MVCAF). The Vanguard showcases the works of both established and emerging artists, with an emphasis on artists from the region. The Vanguard currently represents over 30 artists at any time and has exhibitions of featured artists on a rotating basis. The Vanguard is more than a fine art gallery. The Vanguard has a community service component. We conduct food, toy, and clothing drives. We feature coloring contests for children who receive art supplies as prizes. We have worked with Project Rudolph creating Christmas ornaments that we shipped overseas to our Troops. The Vanguard will always look for opportunities to work with the community to provide services to those in need. Our mission is to raise the quality of life within the City of Moreno Valley through the creation of a vibrant arts environment. Although our current effort is working with the visual arts, we look to expand our support to all genres of art (performing, written). The MVCAF has recently been recognized as the official non-profit representing the City of Moreno Valley's Arts Commission. The MVCAF and the Vanguard is dedicated to education. As such, we are working to development arts programming to supplement the Unified School Districts arts programs that were cut due to budget deficits. read more
