The USC Mark & Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute (INI) houses a multidisciplinary collaborative of experts ... in neuroimaging, data science, radiology, engineering, and beyond. Our team collects and analyzes imaging, genetics, clinical, and behavioral data to map the human brain and understand its role across the lifespan in both health and disease. The INI has four centers: Laboratory of Neuro Imaging Director: Dr. Arthur W. Toga Established: 1983 The Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI) has emerged as a leader in the study of neurological structure and function, building on a decades-long legacy of sophisticated brain mapping and atlasing. LONI researchers specialize in applying artificial intelligence, large-scale computational architecture, and 3D visualization tools to complex biomedical datasets. Center for Integrative Connectomics Director: Dr. Michael S. Bienkowski Established: 2017 The Center for Integrative Connectomics (CIC)'s cross-disciplinary team develops and applies advanced tracing, imaging, and computational methods aimed at charting the mouse and human connectomes at multiple scales. Imaging Genetics Center Director: Dr. Paul M. Thompson Established: 2016 The Imaging Genetics Center (IGC) is dedicated to discovering how individual genetic differences influence brain wiring, structure, and function. The IGC’s experts on neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and aging actively develop technical and mathematical tools to study how the brain changes in disorders and diseases such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, HIV, and Alzheimer’s disease. Center for Image Acquisition Established: 2016 The Center for Image Acquisition (CIA) employs cutting-edge analytical tools and scientific instruments, including two of the world’s most advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, to optimize images of the living human brain. The INI also proudly hosts USC’s Master of Science in Neuroimaging and Informatics (NIIN) program. read more
