The United Nations Student Association is an inter faculty student organization run by students for students. The mission sta ... tement of UNSA Maastricht reads: “to distribute information on the structure and workings of the United Nations and its subsidiary organs as well as education and mutual understanding amongst the peoples by conveying the fundamentals of international relations, insights into the workings of international organizations as well as knowledge about the countries of the world and international affairs to its members and other interested persons”. Since its foundation in 2006 UNSA has grown over the year and has become the most international and also one of the biggest student organisations in Maastricht. Its 300 members stem from all the faculties of Maastricht University which is why UNSA also serves as a platform for them to get in touch with each other. 1. Model United Nations: Not only does UNSA send delegates to MUNs all over Europe every year but also do we host our own conference, EuroMUN (www.euromun.org). These committees received great resonance. EuroMUN attracts every year more than 550 students from all the continents and has become one of the largest MUNs in Europe. And the Delegations committee that provided its members with an extensive debating and public-speaking training-program obtained numerous awards for its members' performances at MUNs. 2. Development Aid Work: In close cooperation with numerous international NGOs, UNSA already successfully prepared and delegated more than 120 volunteers to development-projects across the world (e.g. Ecuador, India or Madagascar). 3. Local activities for students: UNSA hosts ever year a career week on international politics with speakers from the EU, NATO, NGOs and so on. Besides, we offer academic lectures and panel debates on current issues. Furthermore, UNSA publishes its own student-magazine “The Diplomat”. And all the work is promoted by its own Marketing committee. read more
