The 40,000 sqft bioscience complex is located in Alachua, Florida — 20 minutes away from UF’s Gainesville campus. The incubator generates $100 million in regional economic impact every year. Its startup companies and graduates have attracted more than $1.7 billion dollars in equity investment, contracts, grants, and M&A activity. Whaley Incubator of the Year award, for overall excellence. Our program was selected from 1,900 member programs in 60 countries. In July 2013, the Sweden-based UBI index named our program the “World’s Best University Biotechnology Incubator,” as part of an inaugural benchmarking study. UBI assessed 50+ performance indicators (including job creation, talent retention, access to funding, post-incubation relationships, etc.) among 150 incubators in 22 countries to determine the ranking. Sid Martin Biotech was again recognized as a national leader in technology-based economic development in 2014–when we won the State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI)’s 2014 Excellence in Technology-Based Economic Development award for our achievements in the technology commercialization category. read more
