ICORD (International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries) is a UBC Research Centre that is focused on spinal cord injury (SCI ... ). Our research platform includes two Research Programs, each of which span Discovery and Clinical Research: • CURE—to accelerate the search for a cure for spinal cord injury, and • QOL—to enhance the quality of life for people living with spinal cord injury ICORD currently has 38 Principal Investigators and more than 250 trainees. ICORD researchers received more than $20 million in competitive research grants in 2009-10, with almost $4.9 million of that funding for spinal cord injury research projects. ICORD PIs come from many different departments at UBC, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology and the University of Victoria, which demonstrates the wide breadth of expertise within the Centre. ICORD PIs include five Chairs that were established through the support of the Rick Hansen Foundation as well as various Canada Research Chairs, MSFHR Scholars, and CIHR New Investigators. ICORD is located within the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre (BSCC) on the site of Vancouver General Hospital and is thus also a part of Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI).
