The Tony Lutwyche Academy has now opened the doors to its first pop-up shop at 26 Sackville Street, Mayfair, to give a taste ... of the best of British tailoring in the form of its Tony Lutwyche Academy range and to support the academy scheme which runs out of the Lutwyche workshop in Crewe, Cheshire. The academy was set up in 2017 by Tony Lutwyche - who founded Lutwyche in 2000 and has been named ‘the most important figure in English tailoring’ by the Financial Times. When Tony rescued the workshop from administration in 2006, he noticed a greying workforce eager to pass on their skills before retiring. The aim of the academy is to support British tailoring and encourage and teach new talent entering the trade. The academy is a place where passionate young artisans can learn from the incredibly skilled workforce who are the core of Lutwyche. With a workshop dating back to the 1930s which is widely known for being one of the finest in the world, ensuring that youngsters can be trained to become the next generation of highly skilled craftspeople is the aim. The Tony Lutwyche Academy collection is the ready-to-wear collection which has been created whilst teaching the skills of tailoring to the next generation. This collection is created by the academy and then quadruple checked by our talented team at quality control. Tony Lutwyche is passionate about ensuring that English tailoring does not cease to exist and has been at the forefront of several initiatives to ensure that the art of tailoring is not lost and that ‘Made in England’ continues with relevance to the 21st Century.
