SMA began in 1964 with the father-son team of Bill Hurt, Sr. and Bill Hurt, Jr. It was a rather modest start – a smattering o ... f farm parts on white butcher paper spread across an old, dusty ping pong table. Today, after more than 50 years of family ownership, SMA calls itself “America’s Ag Parts Supplier” -- and with good reason. SMA offers some 15,000 agricultural-related parts to customers across the United States. We do this from four distribution centers strategically-located in Jonesboro, Arkansas; Corsicana, Texas; Des Moines, Iowa; and Fresno, California. And now, SMA’s broad geographical coverage – and our deep product line – has gotten even better. As of December 30, 2016, SMA has acquired TISCO, a market-leading distributor of some 16,000 high-wear replacement parts for tractors, combines and other ag machinery and implements. TISCO distributes the products of some 325 suppliers, and has long been known as the trusted name in tractor parts. We believe this acquisition is a great fit for us. Among the many positives, TISCO has a proud history as a family-owned company from its founding in 1937, until it was sold in 1999 by the Calmenson family of Minneapolis to a corporate owner. Obviously, the biggest positive is that SMA’s customers, which now include TISCO’s former customers, will benefit from the breadth of our combined product offering; the efficiency of doing business with a single supplier; improved service through expanded distribution (SMA is also now shipping from TISCO’s distribution centers in Cleveland, Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee); and more intensive field representation. At SMA, we are committed to a smooth integration to ensure a seamless customer experience. As we boldly go forward, you can count on us to do business the SMA Way, which means a focus on service, responsiveness, and professionalism. We also take pride in our reputation for fair dealing, which customers and suppliers always appreciate. read more
