The Tethered Informatics and Data Analytics Lab was founded in 2019 in order to accomodate the demand for interdisciplinary data science experts that have domain experience in the field of interest. Too often the data science experts lack experience in the domain of the problem, or the domain experts lack the knowledge necessary to solve complex problems with data science. This leads to false assumptions and invalid conclusions that could hurt the field by wasting resources and time. At tidal, we believe tethered informatics is the future of all data-driven analytics approaches. A tether is a person that has expertise in both data analytics and the field of interest. Having these multidisciplinary tethers can ensure that everything from the data collection to the analysis of the data is done correctly and efficiently using best practice from both disciplines. read more
