Thursday Network is the nationally-recognized young professionals auxiliary of the Greater Washington Urban League, founded i ... n 1992 by GWUL President & CEO Maudine Rice Cooper. TN is comprised of over 200 young professionals committed to serving the Washington Metropolitan area through community service programs and partnerships that address the goals of the National Urban League. The mission of Thursday Network is to support GWUL, and provide a forum for young adults ages 21 to 40 to engage in community service, professional development, and civic engagement. Thursday Network assists the Greater Washington Urban League in achieving its goals on providing direct services to those in need in Washington, DC, Montgomery County MD, and Prince Georges County MD. Annually, Thursday Network sponsors events such as Young Black Give Back Month, participates in the NULYP National Day of Service and National Day of Empowerment, and awards scholarships to service minded youth at the Greater Washington Urban League's Annual Whitney M. Young Gala. In addition to service programs, Thursday Network provides personal & professional development to its members through workshops, seminars and networking opportunities.
