The Fordham Law Moot Court Board provides competitive opportunities for students to sharpen their advocacy skills as writers ... and oralists. Fordham Law's Moot Court teams have won significant honors in the past, garnering Fordham national recognition as one of the preeminent Moot Court programs in the country. In addition to earning awards at interschool competitions, the Moot Court Board organizes four competitions each year. The Board conducts two intraschool competitions, which are judged by practicing attorneys as well as federal and state judges: the William Hughes Mulligan Moot Court Competition, held each summer, and the I. Maurice Wormser Moot Court Competition, held each fall semester. The Board also hosts the MENTOR Moot Court Competition each fall and the Irving R. Kaufman Memorial Securities Law Moot Court Competition each spring. MENTOR is co-hosted by Fordham University School of Law and the Justice Resource Center, and it pairs competitors from New York City Department of Education high schools with law firms and legal organizations to help high school students develop their oral arguments on constitutional questions of law. The Kaufman Competition draws competitors from approximately thirty law schools across the nation to compete on issues relating to federal securities law. Final round judges have included Supreme Court Justices Byron White, Antonin Scalia, and Samuel A. Alito. The Board encourages any interested parties to learn more about the Moot Court Board or the various competitions it hosts. read more
