For over 50 years, The Arc Central Chesapeake Region, a 501c3, has been at the forefront of providing innovative support, sol ... utions, and advocacy with and on behalf of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. In the past few years, The Arc has expanded its reach outside of its principle county, Anne Arundel, and onto the Eastern Shore of Maryland supporting the counties of Dorchester, Kent, Caroline, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot. During the last three year period, we have served nearly 8,000 children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. From our earliest beginnings, we have been dedicated to supporting, advocating and helping people with disabilities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. Our organization’s roots are planted in a group of concerned parents who advocated tirelessly for their children and to this day our mission continues their legacy: “to promote respect, create opportunities and advocate for equal rights for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” To this end, The Arc Central Chesapeake Region provides several waiver services through the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (Individual Support Services, Family Support Services, Supported Employment, Residential, and Fiscal Management Services). Additionally, The Arc works with those interested in starting their own business through our Microenterprise Program. Furthermore, The Arc is collaborating with community partners (Anne Arundel County Schools, Hannah More School, Division of Rehabilitative Services, and Anne Arundel Medical Center) on Project SEARCH High School Transition Program. The Arc also provides resource and referral services to those in the 6 county service areas to connect families to resources throughout their community. read more
