In Fall 2020, there were 1,484 computer science majors, including 113 graduate Master’s students and 31 doctoral students. Computer science classes are relatively small at Texas State, usually with fewer than 40 students per class, and faculty members are uncommonly accessible to students outside of class time. Texas State Computer Science students won the IBM Mainframe Contest three times, five National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship awards, one Computing Research Association (CRA) Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award, and one Conference of Southern Graduate Schools Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award in Math, Physical Sciences and Engineering.
