In 2007, University College became a degree-granting college, offering the individualized, interdisciplinary Bachelor of Gene ... ral Studies (BGS). Ten students were candidates for graduation with a BGS in the spring 2008 commencement ceremony. Fifty-nine students graduated this fall. The degree allows students to combine three areas of study and offers a path to graduation for those with multidisciplinary interests, for those who want to design an individual degree, and for those seeking to achieve personal educational goals. Over 300 students are currently pursuing a Bachelor of General Studies degree. There really is nothing "general" about a General Studies major.
