Milan’s Teatro degli Arcimboldi Milano (also known as TAM) was built between 1997 and 2002 by the joint efforts of the City o ... f Milan and Pirelli. Originally built to host the theatrical season of Teatro alla Scala during its renovation works, TAM’s very first opening dates back to 19th January 2002 with “La Traviata” directed by Maestro Riccardo Muti. Stage size and auditorium capacity make TAM very similar to La Scala itself. More specifically, the 16x12mt proscenium arch is identical to the one featured at La Scala, making the transition and movement of sets from one theatre to the other particularly agile. The fan-shaped auditorium is 49mt wide and 35mt deep. Average height reaches 22mt and the stage tower is 33mt high. Like all traditional opera houses, TAM too is divided into three main bodies: the lobby, the auditorium and its stalls and the stage. At full capacity TAM can seat up to 2.346 spectators. The seating plan features four specific sections: main stalls, upper stalls and two upper circles. Teatro degli Arcimboldi is the superb result of the massive project of the world-renowned architect Vittorio Gregotti in collaboration with Mario Botta ed Elisabetta Fabbri. The very spirit with which it was designed and built lingers on as TAM continues to be an iconic landmark in Milan’s cultural landscape and a crossroads where all forms of contemporary art may meet and come together. In the Summer of 2021 VIETATO L’INGRESSO, a brand new, unconventional and very special project, will allow TAM to open its doors again to the public and to artists, after a long year of forced lockdown. This unique project springs from the extraordinary partnerships and networking with some among the most relevant names on today’s creative, design and architectural scenes. TAM is place where culture meets lives arts and entertainment; a cultural hub which pivots around a diversified, international, innovative and inspiring artistic program. read more
