Teacher's Pet: Dogs and Kids Learning Together - Similar companies

Teacher's Pet is an non-profit intervention program that pairs at-risk youth with hard-to-adopt shelter dogs for a multi-week ... workshop in positive, reward-based dog training and behavior modification in an effort to make the dogs more adoptable. The mission of Teacher's Pet is to empower at-risk youth to improve in the areas of empathy, patience, impulse control, perseverance and hope. Our students learn how to train their dog in basic obedience, as well as often teaching them how to trust people again. CBS Detroit featured Teacher's Pet on their "Eye on Detroit" segment at the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center in April 2015.
