Founded in 1947 By Aubrey Phillips, Swan initially Swan only produced grey iron castings, but since we introduced electric melting in the late 80's Swan progressed into Ductile (S.G.) iron castings and from there have progressed into Ni-Hard, Ni-Resist and Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) as well as large runs of Steel. Swan have a weight range on 0.5 - 2,500 KG's split into 3 main areas: A specialised Green Sand system dedicated to castings under 25kg. Typical batch sizes range from 20's to mid hundreds, but can stretch into the low thousands, but short runs are also available. A Fast Loop, No break, Mould Handling System, this handles moulds 1m squared, and suits medium sized volumes of larger castings. Finally traditional floor moulding is used for large castings with low volumes, or more complex assemblies. Iron is not committed to any mould until the spec has been confirmed by running a coin, cast from the melt through our spectro-graph.
