SV Tasmania Berlin e.V. is a historic amateur soccer club from Berlin, founded in 1900 by Germans who had the dream of emigra ... ting to Tasmania in the 19th century, hence the name. Currently playing in the NOFV Oberliga Nordost (5th Division), SV Tasmania Berlin is an ambitious club aiming to bring back the success and name that it once had. We are well known in Germany for being the worst Bundesliga team of all time. An honour that we wear with pride, due to the circumstances in which we had to compete during the 1966 Bundesliga season. Due to this label we have recently become very famous throughout the German and European football scene – especially in light of the recent winless run of Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga, and we have been covered and interviewed by the BBC, CNN, The Guardian and the New York Times, to name a few. We have also had several appearances on German television – most notably ARD Tagesthemen, ZDF Heutejournal, RTL Aktuell. Currently we sit on the Top of the NOFV-Oberliga, planning our promotion to the NOFV-Regionalliga, and thus transforming the club from amateur to semi-professional. We are located right next to the Tempelhofer Feld, between the up-and-coming neighbourhoods Schillerkiez and Rixdorf. We have over 52,000 m2 of open space on our property, and a Stadium that can hold 3,000 spectators, which will be renovated by the Neukölln government this year to 5,000. Apart from our aim to achieve sporting excellence, we are a cornerstone to our community as we are involved in a lot of social projects around our community focussing on children from refugee and migrant backgrounds, as well as socially deprived homes. We offer school projects, camps, and eSports, along with obviously our soccer training, as an opportunity for them connect with a more stable social circle. We are also launching a Walking Football project, as an inclusive and barrier-free offer for people with physical disabilities. read more
