The Specialist Transport Advisory and Testing Utility Society aims to give small manufacturers involved in all areas of speci ... alist road transport access to low cost engineering development and test services, as well as technical & legislative advice. STATUS was founded in 1988, following a number of collaborative efforts between the School of Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University and companies within the specialist vehicle field. The success of these endeavors led to its steady and sustained growth, and the society now counts around 120 companies and organisations within its membership. As a result, we now represent a broad cross section of companies involved in low volume manufacture of cars, bus & coach and commercial vehicles along with Special purpose vehicles including Motor Caravans and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles as well as those manufacturing equipment and components for these vehicles. Despite our rapidly expanding reach, STATUS remains based within the MMU School of Engineering, allowing access to a range of invaluable facilities, skills and contacts that would otherwise be difficult and costly to obtain on a large scale - whilst enabling us to remain a small, friendly organisation able to deliver specialist support services to our members. Our services include: • Vehicle testing facilities to help businesses comply with legislative requirements for seat belt anchorage, material analysis and wheelchair accessibility • In-depth support for vehicle type approval including ECWVTA, ECSSTA & NSSTA • An informative and popular newsletter • Influential lobbying to government on matters related to vehicle legislation • Support and advice If you think your firm could benefit from the services listed above, join now. Membership costs only £630 (excl. VAT). read more
