SparkDev is a program at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. This program is designed to help students create ... passion projects that explore their areas of interest in emerging technologies and within computer science. Over a course of nine weeks, students work together as they develop meaningful projects that provide them with new skills and hands-on experience while working as a team. SparkDev is proudly sponsored by Microsoft! Three of our teams this semester are working with Microsoft and their nonprofit partners to build Public Interest Technology Projects. The Information Technology Department at FIU is actively developing a project with one of our teams as well, this project will ultimately benefit the university! The Honors College at FIU in addition supports our members by welcoming us to their resources, spaces, and they award honors points to Honors College students for participating in the program. Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society at FIU and its industry and community partners (including the SCIS FIU) will also help our teams with the resources and mentorship they need to complete their projects. As of Spring 2020 with have 12 different teams: • Artificial Intelligence • Mobile Development • Robotics • Information Technology with FIU IT • Game Development Virtual Reality Edition • Web Development • Cyber Security • Transit Alliance x Microsoft • BadgeWatch x Microsoft • GTFS x Microsoft • Disability Tech • DevOps At the end of the nine weeks, the teams will showcase their projects to the school and our partners. This will give them the chance to interact with industry and community leaders, many of whom will be recruiting students for internships and job opportunities.
