Mr. Andrew Bartha and his wife Ilma started the company in 1988 after 12 years of managing other firms in the industry. The c ... ompany started on a 5,000 square foot plot of shade houses in Homestead, Florida. With passion, persistence, and a strong entrepreneurial drive the Barthas surmounted the challenges of expanding their business. In a few short years the company had grown considerably. Unfortunately, in August of 1992, hurricane Andrew devastated the Miami-Dade area and completely destroyed the Silver Vase facilities. Mr. Bartha and his team saw an opportunity rather than a setback and with great deal of effort they were able not only to rebuild their greenhouses in a short time but also turn their company into one of the most innovative potted plant growers in North America. The state-of-the-art facility experienced a tremendous growth, increasing yearly production from 400,000 units in 1997 nearly 2 million units in 2004. Today the fully robotized and environmentally friendly greenhouse operation extends to nearly 1 million square feet across several locations in United States and Canada.
