Sigma Alpha Zeta stands for the empowerment of women through education, sisterhood, diversity and community service. We are a ... unique group of women who pride ourselves on diversity of culture, personalities and interests. We offer an array of opportunities through extensive networks, and gain a more in depth experience by providing exposure to all aspects of campus life. Our goal is to cultivate long friendships and open up doors to help achieve future goals. As university women, we believe that it is our duty to help those less fortunate and to serve the community of Santa Barbara. Each fall we dedicate ourselves to our philanthropy, domestic violence awareness by hosting DVA week, during the month of October. Year after year we try to bring as much awareness as we can and allocate funds to donate to the Domestic Violence Solution Center in Santa Barbara with the help of our university community. In the Spring, we host an annual 5k run on our UCSB campus to bring awareness as well as raise funds to donate to our local DVS Center in Santa Barbara. Since the year it was created, the run has always been a success, recruiting 100+ participants and raising up to $1000 every year, to bringing attention to such a grave issue in our society most of all. Apart from our philanthropy, every spring, Sigma Alpha Zeta along with Hermanos Unidos puts forth a massive effort known as the College Link Outreach Program. CLOP is a FREE three-day, two-night outreach program, hosted by, that brings 150 underrepresented students from LA and Oakland to UCSB with the goal of inspiring them to achieve higher education. Our organization along with Hermanos Unidos raises over 25k in order to fund this program. This year in our 21st attempt to execute this year's program, we hope to fully fund our program as well as provide our second annual scholarships.
