We seek to provide innovative as well as traditional approaches to solve problems and to address the identified needs of the people in and around Placer County. SMWG began as a grass roots response to community needs in Roseville in the late 1960's and incorporated in 1970 as Roseville Area Youth Services, Inc. (RAYS). In 1981, RAYS merged with Placer Awareness House in Auburn to become Sierra Family Services, Inc., acquiring a third center at North Tahoe permitting the provision of county-wide services. In 2011, a name change to Sierra Mental Wellness Group helped align our current goals and services that have undergone changes over the past 40 years SMWG provides substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling to children, adolescents and adults in individual, group, family, and couples sessions.
