The health sciences and allied health sciences are overflowing with professional associations and journals. Just about everyo ... ne has more meetings than they can attend, so why SENTAC? While there are other interdisciplinary professional associations devoted to the care of children with various disorders, and to promoting the research needed to improve that care, SENTAC is unique in its emphasis on encouraging young professionals to pursue the post-graduate expansion of their clinical knowledge and research skills. Providing a forum for new health care givers and basic scientists has been the traditional focus for this organization. Each research report or clinical investigation accepted for presentation at the annual meeting is given the attention of all the attending members either in a general session of platform papers or in a poster session. A limited number of “teaching sessions” is scheduled each year to help new clinicians and investigators broaden their knowledge and interests. SENTAC does not publish its own journal, but publication of articles presented at meetings is often encouraged in the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, whose current editor (Robert J. Ruben) is one of SENTAC’s founders. read more
