The Scientific Society of Hellenic Medical Students - SSHMS (EEFIE) was founded in September 1993 and is a non-profit NGO, ba ... sed on its members’ voluntary contribution. The primary purpose is to motivate medical students to work on scientific, social and educational issues. Students get the opportunity to cooperate with students, medical doctors, researchers or scientists from all over Greece and abroad. Furthermore, they participate in editing books and magazines and creating electronic information services on the Internet. SSHMS organizes scientific, humanitarian and cultural events and seeks partnerships with public, private and non-governmental organizations. Of great importance is the Scientific Congress of Hellenic Medical Students organized by SSHMS once a year for the past 20 years. Through round tables, lectures, free papers and posters students participate in this unique event and are able to exchange ideas and update themselves on novelties in Medicine. Since 2007, the International Forum of Hellenic Medical Students and Junior Doctors takes place along with the congress and recent achievements and progress in different sections are presented. SSHMS also organizes a program called “Summer Medical Landing”. Medical students travel to Greek islands and reinforce doctors of health centers during summer. In association with the General Secretariat for Youth, SSHMS covers for accommodation and food fees. The Scientific Society of Hellenic Medical Students has now over 2000 members in medical schools all over Greece (7 Chapters) and hopes for offering more in the world of Medicine. read more
