Visitors always comment on how they feel the “buzz” when they enter our school as well as how happy and welcoming the children and staff are. This is something we pride ourselves on. We have many features that make us unique, ranging from our reception and year 1 classes, where children do response planning, to our wonderful hidden gem — our school field! The school field is used for P.E., outdoor learning, fundraising events, camping for KS2, and family events to name but a few activities. At Rodbourne, we believe that children learn best when they are highly motivated, and we ensure that our learning includes a trip, visit, or experience that ties in with our topics every term. When children are happy and engaged with their learning, they make progress, and we are extremely proud of their success. Our children are very involved in the life of the school through various committees where they represent their peers — the school council, the Orange Star Committee, and the ECO Committee. The school council designed the trim trail that was installed on the school field and costed it out — it came in under budget! The children also wanted to share more of their learning with parents, so we run Fabulous Fridays and Thrilling Thursdays, where parents can visit to work alongside their children. The Friends Committee run numerous events throughout the year to fundraise for the school, and our local governing body works closely with our principal and staff to ensure that decisions made have a positive impact on learning and progress. read more
