Established in 1941, the University of North Texas' Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program has been a leader in the educ ... ation field in North Texas for over 70 years. In 2018, the program received international recognition with its receipt of the prestigious Global Centers of Insurance Excellence designation conferred by the International Insurance Society. The award is made to academic RMI programs that demonstrate the ability to promote excellence in insurance knowledge and research and to advance the global insurance industry. The University's RMI program is one of but 30 programs worldwide to have received this recognition. The program is also home to the Beta Zeta chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS), the thriving and dynamic student insurance fraternity.
