REVALUE is a collaborative upscaling project of 6 partners from science and industry funded by the EIT in the framework of th ... e KIC Raw Material. The partners include a large industry (1 - SUEZ), a University (1 - Università del Salento) and four Research Institutes 4 - (CEA; CETMA; CRF; ENEA). The objective of the project is to produce high performance eco-innovative compounds based on recycled carbon fibers (RCFs) and virgin or recycled plastics (PP or PA6). A specific RCF sizing process is developed to reduce the fiber fragmentation during the technological operations and to improve the adhesion of the reinforcement with the polymeric matrices. The innovative solutions will be used for the production of semi-structural automotive components by injection moulding, with a clear advantage in terms of mechanical properties, material reuse and vehicles lightening.
