Raffinerie Heide is Germany’s northernmost crude oil refinery with 150 years of tradition. We process over four million tonne ... s of crude oil. An outstanding proportion of the petrol and diesel fuel consumed in Schleswig-Holstein comes from our refinery. Our jet fuel supplies almost every flight departing from Hamburg airport, while our heating oil supplies 250,000 homes in North Germany with all the warmth they need. Nearly 60 per cent of the crude oil is used for the production of fuels. However, we are also a chemicals company, manufacturing some 450,000 tonnes of petrochemical products a year. Since 2010 we have been part of the internationally active Klesch Group. We are involved in the KEROSyN100 research project. The aim of the project is to develop and produce clean, synthetic kerosene – made with hydrogen generated from green wind energy. Additionally, Raffinerie Heide is partner of the Reallabor Westküste 100 project. The project aims to model a regional hydrogen economy, to be scaled on an industrial level and has been described as a “real-world laboratory of the energy transition” by Germany’s Ministry for Economics and Energy.
