We are ready for launch! Glasgow Prestwick Airport aims to become one of the first commercial spaceports in the UK and Europe ... . This means we will be able to offer horizontal launches of orbital and sub-orbital missions for: - satellite launches - micro-gravity experiments - passenger spaceflight experiences! We are in the ideal location and meet all the technical criteria set out by the Department for Transport, including meteorological conditions, environmental impact and transport links. The airport can also meet the needs of industry with many aerospace businesses on our doorstep and the room on site to accommodate more. We have had a professional technical assessment of our infrastructure and facilities undertaken by independent consultants which shows we need minimal investment to become an operational spaceport. As soon as the Space Industry Bill is enacted and a regulatory framework is in place, we will apply for a licence and expect to become the first fully operational, licensed spaceport in the UK and Europe. The space industry is predicted to be worth £400bn globally by 2030 and the UK aims to target 10 percent of that business by then. A UK Spaceport based in Prestwick would be an economic win for Scotland and the UK. Follow this page for news on our progress and what's happening in the space industry. read more
