PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER AWARD (PVA) Our vision at the University of Limerick is to provide an outstanding student experience, t ... o actively serve our communities and to contribute to the civil, social and cultural life of the Shannon Region and beyond. The PVA is reflective of these values and commitments while also acknowledging the long and proud HE student volunteer traditions both on and off campus. As such the PVA is designed to sustain, grow, acknowledge and reward UL student volunteers for their distinctive voluntary contribution during their studies. The PVA is a unique higher education student volunteer award whereby the President of UL formally recognises the students voluntary achievements alongside their academic attainment. In so doing the ULPVA promotes active citizens, engages students in the work of our community partners, deliver on ULs commitments to engaged universities and also puts the V in HE student CV. The primary goals of the Community Liaison Office (CLO) that manages the PVA programme is to: 1. Encourage and support UL students to contribute to the development of clubs, societies and community based organisations both on and off campus through the online management system www.studentvolunteer.ie/ul. This unique HE volunteer management system is designed to motivate students to make use of their spare time, get involved in or develop voluntary initiatives, learn new skills and gain valuable practical experience and transferrable work-related skills. The PVA programme; 1. Sustains and fosters a culture of volunteering, active citizenship and civic engagement amongst the student population. 2. Initiates the development of collaborative reciprocal UL/student/community volunteer initiatives as well as furthering existing initiatives. 3. Promotes the development of civic and leadership skills amongst the UL student population. 4. Puts the V in UL's students CV. read more
