One of the top Hawaii attractions, the Polynesian Cultural Center is a 42-acre facility situated on the North Shore of Oahu. ... With its large lagoon, waterfalls, lush tropical flora, and an "erupting" volcano, the Polynesian Cultural Center captures all the romance and excitement of the South Pacific islands. A visit to this famous Hawaii attraction represents a chance to travel through Polynesia in a single day, and participate in the celebration of centuries of Polynesian culture — no passport required. For over 50 years, it has been our mission to preserve and honor the cultures represented here: Hawaii, Aotearoa (Maori New Zealand), Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa and Rapa Nui (Easter Island). We accomplish this in two ways. First, by sharing these cultures with the world. Second, by supporting and educating the international students attending the nearby Brigham Young University, representing approximately 12 million square miles of the Pacific region. Over 80% of our workforce are students. By working at the Center, these students are able to fund their education while gaining confidence and skills to help them and their countries in the future. Most importantly, they are able to immerse themselves in their culture, assuring that it can live on through many generations. With a workforce of over 2,000, a rich career opportunity is also provided to full-time employees. The Polynesian Cultural Center, and the adjoining Hukilau Marketplace provides employment in such fields as food service, store-front and on-line marketing, security, public relations, retail services, engineering and cultural outreach. read more
