The Pi Tau Sigma mission is to strive to create better engineers through commitment to academic excellence and dedication to service. Pi Tau Sigma prides itself in the core values: Integrity (soundness of character and moral conduct), Service (serving the mechanical engineering profession and the community), and Leadership (fostering initiative through example in a professional manner). The Sigma Epsilon Chapter is actively involved in support efforts for both Mechanical Engineering department and the College of Engineering. One of the most popular activities is Meet ME, in which Lubbock area elementary and middle school children are invited to tour the Mechanical Engineering Department and participate in fun activities to expose them to the field of engineering. Other activities include Professor of the Year Award, which is given to the best professor and the Purple Shaft Award, which is given to the professor with the worst teaching qualities. The Sigma Epsilon Chapter also routinely volunteers in the Lubbock Community, such as at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum by assisting in ground maintenance every semester. read more
