While we haven’t been around since 1735, we have been around since 1947 and pride ourselves on being “Philadelphia lawyers.” ... Welcome to the PADC, one of (we need the lawyerly caveats after all) the most energetic defense organizations in the country! Our mission is to protect and advance the interests of civil defendants (their insurers, and their counsel); to disseminate knowledge and information within the defense trial bar; to foster cooperation and good fellowship among members of the Association; to act as an organized spokesman for defendants and their interest in the administration of justice; and, to encourage compliance with the highest standards of professional conduct. To achieve this mission, we have monthly CLE lunches (at swanky restaurants), host an annual Young Lawyers’ Workshop and an annual golf/golf lesson (and CLE) outing, work with the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and the Philadelphia judiciary on issues of common interest, draft amicus briefs on topics of interest to our members and their clients, participate in community service activities and serve as a source of mentoring and job information for our members. And, if you have the time and energy, you can get involved in one or more of our substantive committees, Amicus, Judicial Relations, Legislation, Pro Bono/Community Service, Programs and Technology/Social Media. So, the question is not why shouldn’t you join, but rather, why aren’t you a member already?
