Peviani's sales activities in the field of fruit and vegetables started in Milan at the beginning of the last century but the ... company made its initial progress in terms of quality after the Second World War and through the Porta Vittoria railway station of goods, a logistic distribution platform for all of Europe, it succeeded in creating a strong network of relations on an international level. Subsequently, at the beginning of the Sixties, trading activities were joined by the production of fruit and vegetable in the relative conditioning centres and operative branches were immediately opened up in the regions of Veneto, Marche, Puglia and Sicily therefore providing the possibility of offering the market fresh products throughout the year. Today the new branch in Ispica (RG), built in 1999, together with the warehouse in Ginosa (TA), realised in 1998, represent the most important outpost for the Peviani Group in Southern Italy and contribute to part of the group's export. In 1980 Peviani Spa was joined by Pevianifrutta Srl, to handle the warehouses located in the regions of Veneto, Abruzzo and Sicily, while in the Nineties, with greater pressure put on international alliances, two trading companies were set up in Germany and Holland: Agriservice GmbH and Unitrade Holland B.V. In 1996 the Peviani Group included the multinational Fyffes group in its share capital, a European leader in the sale of fresh fruit. The objective of this joint venture was to grow and expand the range of some strategic products such as bananas, pineapple and other overseas fruits. In 2001 the operative branch of Peviani Spa was moved to Siziano (PV), in a modern and efficient air-conditioned platform fitted with cooling cells and growth cells for bananas. From here it distributes to clients from Northern Italy and Europe, providing a very much appreciated just-in-time service. Capespan Italy S.r.L, a company controlled by Peviani SpA, was founded in the same year. This company distributes South-African products with brand CAPE and OUTSPAM all over the Italian territory. The strong points of the Peviani Group include its outstanding dedication to quality and attention to food safety. The principles of integrated production were introduced to cultivation since the Seventies, therefore reducing the use of manure and pharmaceuticals by 70% compared with the maximum limit permitted by Italian legislation. Furthermore, the company has been granted the main certifications ISO 9001:2000, BRC, IFS and the growing plans are taking place in cooperation with Eurepgap certificated farms. read more
