Founded by concerned citizens in July 1964, the Park District of Franklin Park serves approximately 15,158 residents residing north of Grand Avenue in Franklin Park. It offers more than 250 programs each year, and operates seventeen parks totaling 24.14 acres and four facilities. Facilities include the year-round Franklin Park Ice Arena, the newly renovated Pool on Pacific - which includes an Olympic-size swimming pool, a zero depth area with spray features, a drop slide and two tube slides - the Centre at North Park Banquet Hall and Sports Arena, and the Community Center. The park district employs 22 full-time staff, augmented seasonally by more than 120 part-time employees. We participate in a special recreation cooperative, the West Suburban Special Recreation Association (WSSRA).
