The Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training (OXICPT) has a 30+ year history of excellence, in training people to be ... effective Clinical Psychologists. We support trainees to become highly skilled, versatile and confident in their own ability. This is achieved through a dynamic and progressive academic programme; high quality placements in a broad range of specialty areas; and excellent research support and supervision. The philosophy of the Course stems from both the scientist-practitioner and the reflective practitioner models, and the Course is committed to drawing on a wide variety of theoretical orientations. Trainees are given the opportunity to develop competencies in a range of different models including cognitive-behavioural, systemic, lifespan and psychodynamic and to deliver this in a variety of different ways. As training progresses trainees are supported to develop their own personal styles of working, inter-professional working, and models of leadership. Trainees benefit from having access to some of the best clinical and academic resources in the country via the University of Oxford, the NHS and other agencies providing health and social care. The three year full-time course leads to the qualification of Doctor of Clinical Psychology (D.Clin.Psych) and eligibility for Chartered status by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as a professionally qualified Clinical Psychologist. The Course benefits from being fully funded within the NHS, and trainees also have an employment contract with the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. Graduates from OXICPT are equipped to practice at a high level of research and clinical competence, and within a reflective framework which will encourage the further learning and development of clinical skills. We have a substantial research programme in areas such as health psychology, eating disorders, neuropsychology, psychotherapy process, and clinical supervision. We also benefit from close proximity to centres of excellence for cognitive therapy, neuropsychology and spinal injuries. read more
