ONTRAS operates Germany's second longest gas transmission system with more than 7,500 kilometers of pipeline length and around 450 grid connection points for customers' gas transport. As a partner, the company unites the interests of transport customers, dealers, regional network operators and producers of regenerative gases. Connected to the ONTRAS network are 22 biogas plants, which feed around 18 percent of the biomethane generated in Germany every year. In addition, two power-to-gas plants feed hydrogen or synthetic methane into the network of the transmission system operator. ONTRAS has already implemented many future-oriented projects as part of its vision "ONTRAS, going green." We invest in biomethane projects, gas mobility (natural gas + green gases including hydrogen), power-to-gas and energy efficiency. We want to combine the projects in a meaningful way and build sustainable competences in the area of green gas infrastructure. The approximately 100 ONTRAS CNG cars avoid more than 100 tonnes of CO2 per year and save 50,000 euros on fuel costs.
