Only 43% of children in Oakland enter Kindergarten prepared. Many of those who are not prepared are African American and Lati ... nx students stuck on a waitlist for preschool financial aid. The Oakland Children’s Initiative will work to eliminate the kinder-readiness gap, and ensure all students are ready to succeed by the time they enter kindergarten. This ballot initiative will increase quality and access to preschool for all students in Oakland.
