The North Aurora Fire Protection District serves and protects over 18,500 residents in a 10 square mile district. The Distric ... t responds annually to approximately 2500 combined EMS and Fire requests. Additionally the district offers technical rescue, hazardous material, arson investigation, water rescue, public education, and home and business safety inspections. The Fire District employs twenty five (25) fulltime firefighters and twenty (20) part-time members. A separate organization among the membership, called the North Aurora Firefighters Association, raises funds for several community programs and events. An annual Turkey Raffle and golf outing provide funding for the organization. Public education, scholarship programs, youth baseball, Operation Christmas, area school PTA’s, and other local charitable organizations are just some of the programs that the Association contributes to. The NAFD is also part of the Southern Kane County Training Association which was formed to offer training to firefighters. SKCTA is a 10 acre training site constructed on Butterfield Road to accommodate practical education. read more
