Biospecimen Exchange for Neurological Disorders (BioSEND) is the biomarker repository for the National Institute of Neurologi ... cal Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). BioSEND houses biospecimens collected through studies supported by or conducted in collaboration with NINDS. These studies include phase 2 and 3 clinical trials along with an array of studies focused on biomarkers of disease susceptibility, onset and progression. The primary goal of BioSEND is to facilitate research on a wide range of neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases and disorders. The study cohorts banked at BioSEND include Parkinson’s disease (PD), Huntington’s disease (HD), Lewy Body Dementia/ Dementia with Lewy Bodies (LBD/DLB), Frontotemporal Lobar Dementia (FTLD), and other neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. BioSEND currently banks a variety of biospecimens, including DNA, plasma, serum, RNA, CSF, urine, and saliva from more than 30 different studies.
