The product portfolio includes television and motion picture films, series and international co-productions. The company was established in 1947 by director Harald Braun, author Jacob Geis and lawyer Wolf Schwarz. Their license to produce movies was granted by interim government official Erich Pommer, at that time the highest film officer in the American sector in Germany. Their first production “Zwischen Gestern und Morgen” was directed by founder Harald Braun and featured actors Hildegard Knef and Viktor de Kowa. In 1985 ndF produced the series “Das Erbe der Guldenburgs”, which became one of the most popular TV events in German history. Over time the company has established its firm foothold in the industry. Among the company’s greatest successes are productions, such as “Alle meine Toechter”, “Samt & Seide”, “Freunde fuers Leben” and “Forsthaus Falkenau”. ndF belonged to the Kirch Group until April 2003, whereafter managing directors Claudia Sihler-Rosei and Hansjoerg Fueting conducted a management buyout together with the Schwarz family and other partners.
