Home to over 26 million items, over 7 million manuscripts and over 2 million maps, the National Library of Scotland is a treasure trove of information. You can register for free. Visitors can access the Reading Rooms to explore the rich collection of resources on offer, including rare historical documents, music, maps and manuscripts. The Library also has a wealth of company and market data to boost your business. Located just off the Royal Mile on George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, the Library’s main building offers a range of facilities including free exhibitions, café and a shop. The Map Library at Causewayside, Edinburgh, is home to one of the world’s largest maps collections including town plans and railway maps. In September 2016, the Library opened a new and exciting visitor experience in Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, which includes the Library's Moving Image Archive. Each year there is a winter and summer exhibition on display at our George IV Bridge building, showcasing the Library’s collections and bringing them to life in an exciting and engaging way for visitors.
