MJMK was founded by Jake Kasumov and Marco Mendes in order to pursue their joint passions - initially for music, and then for ... food and drink. At MJMK, we share these passions. We love venturing out to discover incredible cooking – bringing the produce we love to the London market and working with exceptional talent. In 2018, we launched the first Casa do Frango in London Bridge. Taking inspiration from Marco’s southern Portuguese upbringing, Casa do Frango celebrates Algarvian cuisine and culture. This was followed by Casa do Frango Shoreditch, in 2019. In 2020, after nearly 3 years of development with Mexican Chef Patron, Santiago Lastra, we opened KOL restaurant in Marylebone, followed by KOL Mezcaleria in May 2021. We’re proud that KOL has been recognised internationally as one of London’s best restaurants, with Santiago Lastra winning GQ Chef of the Year 2021, and KOL winning La Liste Best New Restaurant, Europe. Taking inspiration from Jake’s Cuban upbringing, in August 2021, we launched Bar La Rampa in Market Place, W1, a bar and restaurant inspired by the decadence of 1950’s Havana with a menu crafted by the team behind TĀTĀ Eatery and cocktails by Marcis Dzelzainis. MJMK also operate bar concepts including Bar Bolivar and Vinegar Yard. The next 12 months will see further expansion as we open a third Casa do Frango and launch several new concepts that continue to celebrate culture and heritage, great food and drink. Each site and concept is inspired either by Jake and Marco’s heritage - in Cuba and Portugal respectively - or by those of the partners we work with. Our team is shaped by best-in-class individuals who share the same work ethic and passion for delivering hospitality that’s memorable for all the right reasons.
